I was listening to the radio on my way to choir rehearsal on thursday night. The radio host spoke about how she takes one word every year to focus on. For example, she may choose faith. She would take the word faith, and put special focus on the building of her faith in God all year.
I had tried a similar process once for school after having a bad semester. When the New Year came. I wrote a list of things I wanted to accomplish that year. I wish I knew where this paper was now. I had gotten the idea from the MSN New Year Horoscope. Here is what happened. The horoscope was not making a prediction, it was insisting what I should do. PRAY! I know it sounds crazy, I wonder who came up with this horoscope. It encouraged you pray and meditate in order to accomplish the goal I wanted to meet for that year. I did just that, and I prayed God would help me, as I reached the goals. Most were for my college grades, so I put in the work effort and received 2 A’s and 3 Bs those upcoming semesters. It was exactly what I put on my prayer request sheet. That was the last time I used the method but it had worked.
Before 2019 had ended, I was in a two night revival. The theme and message was about Purpose and Priorities. This past friday we talked about Romans 5:3-4. Patience was the key word for me. So, I have 3 words that is speaking to me. 3 words to guide me this new year.
Priorities, Purpose, and Patience
I previously had God on the back burner. I have to shift my priorities. God is and should be first in my life. It’s in the first commandment. In the new testament we are told, To love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, and soul.
Purpose we all have one. Question is will you allow God to fulfill the plans for our life. No, don’t just say yes. Think about, really dissect yourself. Are you in charge of your life, or is it God? Here’s how you know who’s in charge. God does not fail. What am I saying in plain english? If you are failing in life, then you are in charge not God. The good news is you still have a chance.
Patience…this the one I need. In the car sitting in traffic, at work, at Church, with myself, with God. Yeah definitely that last one. I try to rush God but the songs goes “You can’t hurry God, no you just have to wait, you have to trust and give him time, NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES…he may not come WHEN U want him but he is right ON TIME.”⌚⏰
